Last night at the Louisville Rec Center our LDS Ward hosted a Food Storage Know How Class for our Community. We had three speakers and a Q & A after the lectures. I was happy to be included in the mix and had my husband video tape my thoughts to share here on my blog.
Most of my writings revolve around Self Reliant Mothering and this class was just an extension of all of my long term efforts to put the tools of Mothering into the hands of the women who are looking for them. Having a supply of basic food stuffs is one of the most effective and healthy things a family can do to further their own economic and health goals.
If you would like more information about Food Storage, please go to the Provident Living web site set up by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to learn more.
The Home Storage Section of the site has great information on how to get started storing and preserving food!
And the Emergency Preparedness section of the site teaches the principles of proper Water Storage, Short and Long Term Storage, and how to help dispel fear by being prepared.
If you would like to purchase some foods available from the church’s online store click HERE.
It is my prayer that any efforts you put out as parents will help to provide for your family during life’s storms.
