Music, Music, Music…

In the past month I joined yet another choir, making it a total of three that I am singing in. Paul also joined a mens chorus and has been performing around town already. I had my first big concert this past tuesday and was pleased to sing several solos. It is so fun to be using my voice again in a real way and I feel like this is just the beginning. I enrolled in the local university as a music major, although I need to audition before I am officially in the program. I hope to do that sometime in the next year or two. I am not in any rush to finish my degree, but it feels really good to be making these first little baby steps towards completion of something I started in 1986 at BYU.

Here are quite a few videos and photos from the past few weeks, I have been too busy to blog, but hope to get a rhythm going with my days and carve out a few minutes to share.

One of the big decisions that I made in taking my singing more seriously was to go completely vegan with my eating. I have been planning to do this for years, but to have made the final decision was a big step for me. I sing so much better when I am not eating any dairy products and to have made this determination was an important milestone. I am still cooking animal foods for the family, but I have made the jump to grains and beans and it feels right for me at this time.

Here are the videos:

Pauls Outdoor Concert with Master Singers:

Ben had another soccer game last night and he set the goal to get another Hat Trick. By the end of the game he had his determined face on and just went for it and made this third goal…

Here are a few clips from my concert on Tuesday Night. We sang a medley of music from the Mary Poppins Broadway show – 18 minutes long, and I was the main soloist.

I also had a small solo in this song from South Pacific, I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair!

And we sang a lovely SSA version of Danny Boy with Flute Accom.

I am auditioning for Ms. Hannigan for a local production of Annie next week and hope to sing in the chorus of the Messiah that will be performed during the holiday season here in town.  There are so many cultural offerings in this little place, it boggles the mind, but I feel so blessed to be able to be a part of it all.
